Description: The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) is responsible for maintaining anadramous waters data as well as revision to and publication of the Catalog of Waters Important for the Spawning, Rearing or Migration of Anadramous Fishes and its associated Atlas (the Catalog and Atlas, respectively). The catalogue and its associated spatial data can be found here: http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/sf/SARR/AWC/.Finding the ADF&G spatial dataset of Anadramous streams to be of insufficient spatial accuracy and precision to delineate a 50-foot habitat protection area along anadramous waters and to identify ownership of lands intersecting this area, the Kenai Peninsula Borough (KPB) was compelled to create this supplementary dataset. This dataset was created from three sources of data: In areas with limited variety of ownership (relative to land area) such as the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, Chugach National Forest, Kaligan Island, south of Kachemak Bay, along the Gulf of Alaska and on the western side of Cook Inlet, data were copied directly from the ADF&G catalogue. Remaining areas (primarily west of the boundary of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge) were developed applying hydrology tools to and digital elevation model derived from a 2008 LiDAR dataset.Any areas found to be incorrect from (2) were hand digitized using LiDAR information and various sources of imagery. The source of the stream or stream segment can be found in the “source” field.Records will contain one of two values in the “Management”field: “Currently Managed”or “Newly Managed”. These values exist to contrast those streams included in the Habitat Protection district first in 1996 and 2000 (Currently Managed) from those added in 2012 and 2013 (Newly Managed).
